Maximizing the performance of discipline and Improving the philosophy of student’s life.
Student guidance and counseling Department directed personally by DR. KH. Abdullah Syukri Zarkasyi , M.A and K.H Hasan Abdullah Sahal And assisted by 11 teachers. it is an institution which educates and supervises directly all extra-curricular activities of students .This department always interprets the precept and the content of philosophical life of student. At the same time this section also tries it’s level best to explain the adventages of these activities.
Basically, the duty of this department covers not only the problem of students, but at least there are three main task; supervision of the students organizations, scout movement, control student’s discipline inside the campus comprehensively, and provide student guidance and counseling.
The activities of student organization and scout movement are directly under supervision and responsibility of this department .therefore, all movement and activities held by these two organization are always under its control and guidance.
In order to practice the discipline maximally, this department emphasize the students more on self consciousness. The department rather prefers to utilize preventive approach and avoid physical punishment. With this approach the discipline can be carried out well based on self counsciousness rather than compulsion. To further intensify student discipline, particular team of supervision also being assigned.
The duty of this team is to active the whole programs, such as supervision of afternoon lesson, discussion programs and public speaking clubs, language advisory council, student consulate organization, sports and courses such as; languages, handy crafts, arts and student dormitory management.
Each supervisor in this regard, plays an important role to control and give a solution for every faces by student after being consulted toward student guidance and counseling department. Periodical meetings also held in order to consolidate and evaluate program to get better way out and advance. On the other hand, this department also participates in overcoming the problems faces by students directly or indirectly trough teachers as the formal supervisor.
Globally, the activities of student guidance and counseling department are divided into three kinds; daily/weekly, monthly, and semi year/yearly activities.

Students organization, known as OPPM, is playing an important future leaders of ummah. For this reason Darussalam Modern Islamic Boarding School assigns all students, besides learning, to manage and arrange their life in Boarding Scholl independently based on well-versed motto “ready to lead and ready to be lead”.
The organization, towards the 40th of its anniversary, tries to role in students live. consisting of 21 department, student Organization is managed by 198 highly dedicate students. They should be loyal to their task as they have a big number of duties which need physical and emotional strength.
Achievement of student Organization in all range is the success-indicator of this Organization. The managers, as well as the members of this Organization, have shown their creativity, initiative, and ethos. Everyone attempts to make his best effort to develop the quality of student organization.
How to support the managers? Self support is the key to enlarge one’s capability, beside we have to keep encouraging them by giving them numbers of assignments. These assignments will rultivate sence of responsibility which is the main aspect of idealism. With tougher idealism, hard working ethos could be improved simultaneously.

Preparing an ideal Muslim scholar.
Darussalam institute of Islamic studies is as first Islamic University in Indonesia which undertakes all its academic activities on the basis of boarding system. The university tries its level best to be center of studies on Islamic knowledge and general science. The academic activity in this campus is firmly carried out on the basis of conductive living values of boarding system of education to enhance an advance Islamic civilization. The main mission of the university is also to construct its students be an idea Muslim scholar who is able to inculcate in his mind the spirit of Islam. the student is furthermore , prepared to maintain, deepen and develop the Islamic knowledge and science in general.
The university at the time being has three faculties and six academic programs which have been accredited by the National Accreditation Board. The 4 academic programs accredited in A (excellent) grade and 2 others in B (good).
In the year, the university carries out a new program to prepare certain number of students to be an ideal Muslim scholar under special course. The vision of this course is to construct a religious intellectual person. This vision is in fact an idea derived originally from the idea of the founding father of Gontor, since the beginning of the school establishment.
